There are so many things that are locked into the corporate network. Extending the corporate network with a software-defined network and SD-WAN that quickly provides access to the corporate hidden resources, the crown jewels, enables people to innovate.
The good news is that organisations seeking global infrastructure transformation do not necessarily need an expensive ‘big bang’ project. For most, it makes sense to integrate new infrastructure at your own pace. You might develop a hybrid setup, if that works best. The key is to drive change from a position of control. Take an intelligent approach to the overlay. How you coordinate and manage infrastructure transformation will deliver the real benefits.
You can’t transform your network infrastructure in isolation. But transforming IT, cloud and security services simultaneously is a conversation many traditional carriers are not prepared to have. Remaining with a legacy carrier can mean a slow evolution. It can mean paying high prices for services and technologies that rapidly become obsolete. A DIY approach can result in a technology dead-end or unplanned-for costs, like security. But fail to change and you will be left behind.
Finding the right partner in an evolving technology landscape is a challenge. Organisations are swamped with vendor options in the software-defined networking technology marketplace. They don’t know who to pick, how to tie it all together and when to jump. Too often the response is inertia.
