Prioritising global infrastructure transformation in 2021

The business impact of 2020 will be felt for a long time.

Customer service changed overnight. Many more employees began working from home. Companies that had digitised their infrastructure were in a good position to meet these challenges. The benefits of cloud working and digital collaboration came into sharp relief, especially for global businesses who had not yet joined that party.

While some businesses put their plans on hold during the crisis, out of necessity the majority pushed on with digital transformation plans. In 2021, everyone in the business, from board members to individual employees, can buy into the benefits of an infrastructure that allows people to work together and serve customers from any location.

During 2020, we asked 62 business leaders to reveal what they had learned from optimising their network and applications infrastructure. We spoke to 29 business leaders as the pandemic had just begun to have a global impact. In late 2020, we published our first eBook drawing on these findings, ‘Daring to disrupt: how digital leaders are transforming network infrastructures’. 1

Since then, we have interviewed 33 more business leaders who shared increasing optimism and plans for transformation in 2021. They told us about how they handled the challenges of implementing a complex global infrastructure – ranging from security issues to skills shortages.
